How much does Etsy take per sale?
Etsy takes a little under 10% of most orders, plus about 45 cents. Here's every fee, what it's charged on, and a real example.
The three fees on every sale
| Fee | US rate | Charged on |
|---|---|---|
| Listing fee | $0.20 | Each listing, renewed each time it sells |
| Transaction fee | 6.5% | Item price plus shipping and gift wrap |
| Payment processing | 3% + $0.25 | The full amount the buyer pays |
Sellers in other countries pay slightly different processing rates, and some pay a regulatory fee too. See the Canada and UK guides.
Worked example: a $25 item with $5 shipping
Etsy keeps $3.30 of the $30 the buyer pays, or 11.0%. That's before your own costs, which is why the real question is what's left after materials, packaging, postage and your time.
Fees that only apply sometimes
- Offsite Ads: 15% (12% for larger shops) when a sale comes from Etsy's ads on other sites, capped at $100 per order. How Offsite Ads work.
- Etsy Ads: whatever daily budget you set, only if you turn them on.
- Currency conversion: 2.5% if your listing currency differs from your bank's.
- Shipping labels: the postage itself, if you buy labels through Etsy.
- One-time setup fee when you open a shop, in some countries.
