| Plan | Monthly | Paid yearly | US online card rate |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $5 | n/a | 5% + 30¢ |
| Basic | $39 | $29 | 2.9% + 30¢ |
| Grow | $105 | $79 | 2.7% + 30¢ |
| Advanced | $399 | $299 | 2.5% + 30¢ |
If you use another payment provider instead of Shopify Payments, Shopify adds a transaction fee of 2% on Basic, 1% on Grow and 0.6% on Advanced, on top of what that provider charges. This calculator assumes the other provider charges the same card rate as Shopify Payments.
Business and Amex cards cost about 0.6% more on each plan. Apps and themes are extra and not included here.
Questions sellers ask
Is Shopify cheaper than Etsy?
Per sale, often yes, because there is no transaction commission. But you pay a monthly plan and you bring your own traffic. Use the Compare tool on the home page to see the same item on both.
When is it worth upgrading from Basic to Grow?
Grow saves 0.2% on card fees but costs $66 more a month. That only pays off at roughly $33,000 a month in sales, so most small shops are better off on Basic.
Does Shopify charge fees on shipping?
Card processing applies to the full amount the customer pays, including shipping.
