How to price stickers on Etsy
Stickers are cheap to make and easy to mail, which makes them a popular first product. But on a $4 sticker, fixed fees and postage can eat most of the sale.
One sticker, one order
Example costs for a single vinyl sticker: $0.60 to print and cut, $0.25 for a rigid envelope and backing card, about $1.00 in postage, and three minutes to pack at $20 an hour.
Profit is $1.68. To keep a 30% margin on a single sticker you'd need to charge $3.95, which is more than most shoppers expect to pay.
A three-pack changes the maths
A pack of three costs $1.80 to make but shares one envelope, one stamp and one set of fixed fees.
Now you keep $4.91, or 42.7%. That's why most successful sticker shops push packs, bundles and "pick any 5" listings.
Quick rules for sticker pricing
- Make packs the default and single stickers the add-on.
- Charge enough shipping to cover the envelope and stamp, or bundle it into the price.
- Check the margin on your cheapest listing first. It's usually the one losing money.
